Dish DVRs go remote nationwide

Dish Network made its remote access DVR service available nationwide. The service is available free-of-charge to customers with a ViP Series DVR. You can search in “real time” through nine-days of programming, with filters set by genre, rating, sports etc.. You can also use with your Slingbox for remote viewing.

Other Dish receivers compatible with the remote access feature include the ViP 722k, ViP 722, ViP 622 and ViP 612 HD DVR. No word yet on the release of the ViP 922 HD DVR shown at CES 2009 – the company says it will be available “later this year.”  The 922 HD DVR promises integrated SlingLoaded technology, so you can have one less box on your TV.

Here’s a link on how to set up your remote access: www.dishnetwork.com/dishremoteaccess.
