Dish adds more local HD markets

by Jeffrey Nukom on August 21, 2009

Dish Network has added local HD channels to several markets this week, bringing their local coverage to 97% of U.S. markets (according to Nielsen Media Research and Dish).

Local stations were added in Lima, Ohio; Alexandria, La.; Columbus-Tupelo, Miss.; Springfield, Mo.; and South Bend-Elkhart, Indiana.

Customers will now have access to high-definition broadcasts from the local stations that serve those areas.

The two satellite television providers in the United States, Dish Network and DirecTV, have been under pressure from congress to provide local TV stations in all markets.
