U-verse launches in Southeast Louisiana

by Jeffrey Nukom on October 2, 2009

If you live in Southeast Louisiana you may have another choice for television service from AT&T’s U-verse. U-verse provides TV, voice and internet service via IPTV through their fiber-optic and copper wire network.

“We are thrilled to start offering this innovative video choice in Southeast Louisiana. Area residents have asked for more choices in television service and today we’re delivering,” said William A. Oliver, president, AT&T Louisiana.

The new service areas include parts of St. Tammany, Terrebone and Lafourche Parishes. New customers in U-verse market areas can sign up for service starting Monday, Oct. 5.

U-verse offers at least 110 high-definition (HD) channels, and up to 390 channels total including standard-definition. The service also gives you the ability to schedule recordings on your DVR remotely, using a cell phone or PC.

IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) is a technology that allows data to be streamed by internet protocol though existing phone lines, rather than by cable or satellite.
