Eutelsat Communications hits 100 HD channels with Sky Sport 1HD

by Jeffrey Nukom on October 7, 2009

Eutelsat Communications, providing satellite television in Europe, (and other countries), has added its 100th high-definition channel with Sky Sport 1HD, the flagship channel of the latest HD package from the SKY Italia pay-TV platform.

Eutelsat’s Commercial Director Olivier Millies-Lacroix said: “The quest for constantly enhancing viewer choice and generating premium content is shared by the entire broadcasting community, making High Definition a natural step, with 3D already following close behind.

Eutelsat has 27 satellites providing coverage over Europe, the Middle East, Africa, India and parts of Asia and the Americas. The company says 42% of the 243 HD satellite channel streams in Europe and the Middle East are broadcast through a Eutelsat satellite.
