Indy Tolkien film ‘Born of Hope’ to debut online

born_of_hope_trollIndependent film “Born of Hope” is a 70-minute independent film inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings books. The film pre-dates Lord of the Rings and tells the story of Aragorn’s parents, Arathorn and Gilraen. Dailymotion will broadcast the film in HD starting Dec. 1.

The professionally-produced film was directed by produced by Kate Madison, who borrows from the look and feel of the Peter Jackson Lord of the Rings trilogy to create an original spin-off of the LOTR tale.

Back in May ‘09, Dailymotion launched another Tolkien based indy film called “The Hunt for Gollum” which has received approximately 1.6 million views.

Dailymotion hosts both High Quality (HQ) and High Definition (HD) video online in H.264 format. Their HD quality standard is 1280 x 720 resolution, while the HQ quality is 512 x 384 at 30 fps. Audio is formatted in AAC at 96 kbps.

    its up now. full screen is pretty blurry even in hd mode. the 512px size its sharp though.

    you might be looking at it in HQ quality. The HD version looks really good, but takes forever to stream. Make sure you see an “HD” in the bottom menu.
