Hitachi Home Electronics has announced a new HD hybrid camcorder (DZ-BD10HA) that functions in three formats and improves upon Blu-ray Disc recording capabilities from last year’s DZ-BD7HA hybrid camcorder. The new DZ-BD10HA has also improved upon power consumption and noise in the 8cm BD/DVD drive.

The three format hybrid camcorder is able to record HD video onto Blu-ray Disc, hard drive, or SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) card. It allows recording up to 4 hours and 20 minutes of 1920×1080 resolution video, or 8 hours 40 minutes of 1440×1080 onto the built-in 30GB hard drive. Full Story »

Canon introduced three new HD camcorders to its VIXIA brand. The VIXIA HF11 (Dual Flash Memory,) the VIXIA HG21 (120GB Hard Drive) and VIXIA HG20 (60GB Hard Drive) add expanded high definition capacity at 1920×1080 resolution. JVC added three new high definition cameras to its HD Everio line of products. Two of the camcorders, the GZ-HD40 and GZ-HD30, are dual format cameras allowing AVCHD compression and the higher quality MPEG-2 compression. The GZ-HD10, a more economical model, has also been added. Full Story »

Sanyo announced the debut of a new HD camcorder branded the “Xacti” HD1010.  The lightweight high-definition camera has a resolution of 1920 x 1080i and features face detection technology to improve both video and stills. The Samsung SC-HMX20C camcorder due out this month can record 300 fps (frames-per-second) onto a Flash drive, thereby giving you the ability to record any action in slow-motion for up to 10 seconds. And yes, it does full 1080p at 30 fps. Full Story »
