Samsung prices 2010 Blu-ray players

Samsung_BD-C6900_angle2Samsung has officially released pricing on its 2010 line of Blu-ray players ranging from $179 to $499. The BD-C6900 (which won Best of Innovations at CES 2010) features built-in 3D playback, Netflix and Blockbuster apps, social widgets, and a slim design with transparent cover (so you can be mesmerized by the spinning of your Blu-ray discs). The BD-C6900 also comes with 1GB internal memory and 7.1 channel audio. Full Story

Apple iPad will hit stores April 3

ipad_safari_handsIn the U.S. the Wi-Fi enabled Apple iPad (available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB) will hit stores on Saturday, April 3. Later in April, the 3G models will be released throughout the U.S. as well as Japan, Australia and Europe. The iPad is almost an enlarged iPhone, with the functionality of Amazon’s kindle its driving point. Sony Dash will stream Netflix

Sony_Dash_Hero_600pxSony’s new “personal internet viewer” branded “Dash” will stream Netflix content you can access though their queue-based interface. The wireless device will automatically update your choices when the Netflix app is selected. The Dash features a 7-inch touch display and built-in speakers, and can be angled on a table or set on its back for viewing. It also has USB and headphone ports. Full Story

Microsoft drops Zune HD price, others follow

zune_ces2010_logoWith no real announcement Microsoft has dropped the price of its Zune HD 16GB and 32GB models by $20. The Microsoft online store, as well as Best Buy, have the media players priced at $199 and $269 respectively. Amazon and Walmart have dropped the 32GB model by $40, offering it at $249 (Reg. $289). The 16GB model is currently $188 (Reg. $219). Full Story

Xbox will add streaming HD, social apps, audio, and news

xbox live logoIn a couple days Microsoft will expand the capabilities of its Xbox LIVE service, adding the ability to stream high-definition movies from Zune in full 1080p HD. Social networking apps Facebook and Twitter will also be added, as well as audio from Last.Fm and a news section with MSNBC content. Full Story

Zune HD ships, gaming confirmed

A leaked promotional video for the new Zune HD shows off its confirmed features, including a glimpse of its capability to download and play games. Although the video was a leak apparently from Buy.com, it confirmed the portable device will be directly competing with Apple’s iPhone and Sony’s PSP. Full Story

Zune HD in stores Sept. 15

Zune HD portable media player looks promising

It looks like Microsoft has stepped it up a notch with the latest Zune portable media player. Photos were released yesterday of the new Zune HD model expected to ship in September. The player supports 720p output via HDMI, however its 3.3″ screen only reaches 480×272. Full Story

Portable Panasonic Blu-ray player on the market

Panasonic has officially released a portable Blu-ray Disc player to the consumer market. The DMP-BD15 is built with an 8.9-inch WSVGA LCD display and features Viera Cast functionality for connecting to internet sites. Zune HD a go for Fall ‘09

Microsoft has confirmed the Zune HD for Fall ‘09 release in the U.S. The player will combine a built-in HD Radio receiver, high-definition (HD) video output capabilities, organic light-emitting diode (OLED) touch screen, Wi-Fi and an Internet browser. The Zune portable media player will also extend to the Xbox Live video marketplace, a community of 17 million subscribers. Full Story
