Boxee following suit on paid content

YouTube and Hulu have been part of the talk, although Hulu’s fees are still rumored. Both follow the Wednesday news that The New York Times is planning a subscription program in which a limited amount of content would be offered free, but additional content would have to be paid for. CEA lists finalists for excellence awards

LaserVue TV MitsubishiThe Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) has announced its list of finalists for the 2009 Mark of Excellence Awards. The list includes electronics suppliers, system integrators and training programs. The winners will be announced during the tenth annual Electronic House Expo (EHX) on Friday, March 13, 2009. Among the categories listed include “Best Video Component” and “Best Video Display.” Full Story

Vudu surpasses all HD VOD offerings

Vudu’s HD VOD library has reached 1,100 titles, surpassing any other cable or satellite’s HD VOD offerings. (Comcast now offers just over 1000.) The company added approximately 150 high-definition titles per week in October and began offering 65 titles in 1080p, the highest resolution currently available. Full Story
