Batman film marathon on HDNet

HDNet is running a mini marathon of Batman films starting today at 5:00 PM. If you’re a big fan of Michael Keaton’s portrayal of Batman you can catch up with how The Dark Knight looked 90’s style (pre Batman and Robin) in Batman (1989), Batman Returns (1992) and Batman Forever (1995). Of course the movies are presented in high-definition and widescreen format (everything on HDNet is) making this is a great way to relive the movies in their native format. Full Story

Spartacus: Blood and Sand to premiere tonight in HD

Comcast adds exclusive HD content from ‘The Pacific’

Executive producers Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg and Gary Goetzman, who brought the Band of Brothers miniseries, will be premiering The Pacific miniseries March 14 on HBO. Along with HBO, Comcast is giving its subscribers exclusive On Demand content including a scene from The Pacific, interviews with the producers, and sneak peaks into the making of the series. Comcast is also loading up a Band of Brothers episode every week as a primer for the premiere. Full Story

‘Spartacus: Blood and Sand’ to premiere in hi-def

A hi-def program to look out for is Spartacus: Blood and Sand, a new series premiering on Starz Jan. 22, 2010. This classic tale of a gladiator turned legend will mix sex and drama with plenty of battle scenes in a graphic novel style made popular by Frank Miller’s 300. Full Story

Epix HD to run action movie marathon this holiday weekend

Predator in HD looking half-n-half

TNT ran The Predator in HD the other night and I gotta tell ya I wasn’t impressed. While this is probably not TNT’s fault, nor the fault of my service provider, the movie was realistically about half way to high-definition.

I haven’t seen the Blu-ray version which was released back in April 2008 to compare, so this review is strictly of the HD broadcast. First off, the format looked strange. It looked as if it was stretched horizontally, although at times I was thrown off because the broadcast looked vertically challenged. Full Story
