Sony HD movie channel may launch soon

A new movie channel dubbed Sony Pictures Movies HD will possibly launch Oct. 1, tapping into Sony’s extensive library of films which includes blockbuster titles such as Angels & Demons and Spider-Man 3. This news comes via the Los Angeles Times which reports Sony Television plans to launch two new channels in the United States. The Sony movie channel may launch along with Fearnet, a joint venture between Sony, Lionsgate and Comcast Corp which already offers horror genre films on demand and online. Sony has already launched television channels abroad but has yet to do so in U.S. markets. Full Story

FEARnet HD to go linear in October

You may have come across FEARnet searching through your TV provider’s video-on-demand library. The horror/thriller/suspense network also provides content online and through its mobile platform. In October, FEARnet will launch as a linear channel, offering movies from the horror film genre in high-definition on Comcast, FiOS, Cox and other providers. Full Story

David Lynch’s ‘Surveillance’ premieres next Weds. in HD

HDNet Movies is hosting a sneak peak of producer David Lynch’s newest film, Surveillance next week. The film was directed by none other than Lynch’s daughter Jennifer Lynch, who also co-wrote the movie. Surveillance is set to have its national theatrical debut in theaters June 26. Full Story

Fearnet dropped from Time Warner & Bright House

Fearnet has been dropped by both Time Warner Cable and Bright House, that according to an article from Home Media Magazine. The horror film-based VOD channel has featured films such as Wishmaster, The Evil Dead, Halloween, Friday the 13th and Saw on its free VOD service. Full Story
