If you hesitated paying $50 last year for the season subscription to NFL’s Red Zone, you’ll be pleased to know this year the channel will be included with NFL SUNDAY TICKET. In addition, DirecTV has promised every game in HD, the Game Mix Channel, and Short Cuts to the season pass.

If you’re a baseball fan and DirecTV subscriber you may already be smiling about this news, and plotting a way to get yourself a new HDTV — one that is 3D ready. DirecTV will broadcast two Yankees vs. Mariners games in 3D this July, which marks a first for the MLB and the satellite TV provider. The Yankees vs. the Seattle Mariners games (July 10 and July 11) will be broadcast via a partnership between DirecTV, Yes Network (who owns the Yankees distribution rights), and FSN Northwest.
DirecTV confirmed it will launch ESPN 3D for the 2010 FIFA World Cup matches starting in June. At the same time the company named the linear 3D channel “N3D” — one of three DirecTV-planned 3D channels. FIFA 2010 debuts with South Africa versus Mexico on June 11, and will continue with up to 25 matches.
After discussing it for over six months DirecTV and Comcast finally came to an agreement to get Versus back on the satellite’s lineup. DirecTV says Comcast wanted more money for the Versus feed, and Comcast argued DirecTV wanted to cut the channel’s potential audience almost in half from 14 million households. Meanwhile, hockey fans with DirecTV were unable to watch the NHL on Versus.
