A new satellite that was supposed to add more high definition (HD) channels to DISH Network’s lineup failed to reach orbit today. The satellite, owned by SES Americom, was launched last Friday in Kazakhstan under contract with Echostar, a sister company to DISH Network.

The Weather Channel is well on its way to the launch of its first HD studio programs, Your Weather Today and Evening Edition, on June 2, 2008. By early May, sets will be in place for the start of rehearsals from a four- story-high HD studio.
