Warner Bros. Digital Distribution is celebrating Warner Bros. Entertainment’s 85th anniversary by releasing 85 of its classic films in HD VOD (High-Definition Video-On-Demand). Cable television provider Comcast will be rolling out a new action based VOD channel with studio MGM this week, The Associated Press reports. The channel named “Impact” will have 20-30 titles every month featuring action movies and TV shows. MGM will pull titles from its 1,000+ library of action films and shows. Full Story »

Standard definition movies from Verizon VOD are usually $4.99, but I watched “Into the Wild” the other night in HD for $5.99. The extra dollar for high definition seems worth it, since that is what you would pay to rent a Blu-ray Disc or HD DVD at a video store. Minus the cost of gas to get to the store, you might actually be saving some money by using video-on-demand.
