DirecTV to offer exclusive footage from The Twilight Saga: New Moon

twilight-new_moon_posterDirecTV will offer a special midnight premiere of The Twilight Saga: New Moon for pay-per-view on Mar. 20, which includes behind-the-scenes bonus footage not available from cable networks. Bonus featurettes include “The Subtle Details” (behind-the-scenes look at New Moon’s production design), and “Chris Weitz Takes the Helm” (a look at the transition from ‘Twilight’ director Catherine Hardwicke and ‘New Moon’ director Chris Weitz). Sony boasts HD movies on PSN from major studios

playstation-network-logoSony announced today the addition of HD content from the major studios to their Playstation Network video-on-demand service. 20th Century Fox, Walt Disney Pictures, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Universal Pictures, and Warner Bros. are the six major studios to provide titles for rent or own through the Playstation Network. Comcast has added several 2010 Academy Award-nominated films to its On Demand selections, which include District 9, The Hurt Locker, Inglourious Basterds, Julie & Julia, A Serious Man and Up. The added titles can be found in the Oscar Films & More library, and are available in HD. Full Story

Comcast adds 24 Seasons 1-7 On Demand

The episodes are offered in high-definition and will be available through April 7, 2010. You can find them via the On Demand menu under “TV Entertainment” > “Fox” > “24.” (Just make sure you pick the HD versions.) Full Story

Comcast adds ESPN content On Demand

Cox adds NBC programming in HD On Demand

Best Buy dips into digital content delivery

Times this morning reports that Best Buy will be going the pure digital route, and offer content direct to the consumer with possible music and video-on-demand services.  As the market for DVD’s continues to shrink, it seems the new Blu-ray format doesn’t even seem to be getting a fighting chance amid consumer interest in getting content via broadband rather than through physical discs.  Full Story

Panasonic adds Amazon VOD to Blu-ray players

LG first to bring VUDU to HDTVs

LG Electronics has announced VUDU integration on their LH50 1080p LCD series and PS80 Plasma 1080p series televisions. The labeled “NetCast Entertainment Access” will begin next month, allowing viewers to buy or rent from VUDU’s library of over 2,000 high-definition movies. Full Story
