Apple iPad will hit stores April 3

ipad_safari_handsIn the U.S. the Wi-Fi enabled Apple iPad (available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB) will hit stores on Saturday, April 3. Later in April, the 3G models will be released throughout the U.S. as well as Japan, Australia and Europe. The iPad is almost an enlarged iPhone, with the functionality of Amazon’s kindle its driving point. The large 9.7″ display on the iPad is LED backlit at 1024 x 768 resolution. “iPad is something completely new,” said Steve Jobs. Continue on for pricing. Full Story

Apple’s iPad set to take on the world of HD gaming

Today Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs finally unveiled the iPad, an HD tablet designed to fill the space between the iPhone and the home PC. Not only will this new tablet run HD movies, iWorks and Safari, but Jobs also boasts that it was built to run iPhone apps and games, full screen, at two times their native resolution. Full Story

Dell Zino HD shipping – a matchup for the Mac mini

dell_inspiron_zino_hd_front_angle_black_sqIf there ever was a battle between desktops I’d love to see one between the Mac Mini and the new Dell Zino HD, which basically takes up the same real estate as the Mac Mini but with an extra inch-and-a-half and more curvaceous profile. The Zino HD (officially the Dell Inspiron Zino HD – why they need the extra “Inspiron” brand I don’t know) measures 8×8 inches by 3.4 inches high and is being marketed as a compact hybrid entertainment system/home PC. Best Buy dips into digital content delivery

Times this morning reports that Best Buy will be going the pure digital route, and offer content direct to the consumer with possible music and video-on-demand services.  As the market for DVD’s continues to shrink, it seems the new Blu-ray format doesn’t even seem to be getting a fighting chance amid consumer interest in getting content via broadband rather than through physical discs.  Full Story

Apple, Win7 Products Come To Market: No Blu-ray for you!!

windows-media-centerApple and PC manufacturers are set to release upgraded hardware technology this week in anticipation of Microsoft’s Windows 7 release.  Apple’s upgrades are simply shots across the Win7 bow, but PC manufacturers are gearing up for Win7 by utilizing high-definition screens as well as touch-screens compliant with the updated OS. Apple intros new MacBooks, but no Blu-ray

Just yesterday I was asking my friend why Apple came out with these fancy new MacBooks but with no option for Blu-ray Disc integration. Isn’t Blu-ray the disc of the future? With each disc capable of holding 25GB of data you’d think Apple would be on this already. Full Story
