Apple iPad will hit stores April 3

In the U.S. the Wi-Fi enabled Apple iPad (available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB) will hit stores on Saturday, April 3. Later in April, the 3G models will be released throughout the U.S. as well as Japan, Australia and Europe. The iPad is almost an enlarged iPhone, with the functionality of Amazon’s kindle its driving point. If there ever was a battle between desktops I’d love to see one between the Mac Mini and the new Dell Zino HD, which basically takes up the same real estate as the Mac Mini but with an extra inch-and-a-half and more curvaceous profile. The Zino HD (officially the Dell Inspiron Zino HD – why they need the extra “Inspiron” brand I don’t know) measures 8×8 inches by 3.4 inches high and is being marketed as a compact hybrid entertainment system/home PC. 
Apple and PC manufacturers are set to release upgraded hardware technology this week in anticipation of Microsoft’s Windows 7 release. Apple’s upgrades are simply shots across the Win7 bow, but PC manufacturers are gearing up for Win7 by utilizing high-definition screens as well as touch-screens compliant with the updated OS.
