“Watchmen: The End is Nigh The Complete Experience” for Playstation 3 was released today. The hybrid PS3 game and Director’s cut version of the film comes as a Blu-ray two-disc set that retails for $49.99 (Amazon currently has it for $46.99). Full Story
“Grey’s Anatomy: The Complete Fifth Season” has been announced for standard DVD and Blu-ray release. The award-winning TV show from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment will be released in both formats on September 15 with an MSRP of $69.99 US; $89.99 Canada. Full Story

The White House Gets an HD Radio
White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs mentioned he doesn’t even own a radio so the HD Digital Radio Alliance sent one over to the White House — a Sony XDR-S10HDiP with iTunes Tagging and iPod dock. E-Gear Full Story
Lacie, a hardware company which focuses on external hard drives, arrays and monitors, announced Monday an 8x Blu-ray Disc burner. The d2 Blu-ray supports both USB 2.0 and Firewire 400, and can burn up to 50GB on a single dual-layer BD-R disc. Full Story
In hopes of gaining more customers in an unstable economy, Sony will begin a $25 mil. Blu-ray customer awareness campaign called “Tru Blu.” Adweek revealed the new campaign last Friday, and reported Los Angeles based marketing agency Trailer Park will create the promos. Full Story

Sony’s high-def Blu-ray Disc format reached 1000 titles last week, with 841 titles now available and 185 scheduled for future release. The average price of a Blu-ray Disc on Amazon.com currently stands at $23, which has been gradually going down over the last 30 days. Blu-ray players are also dropping in price, with major retailers offering players for less than $230. Full Story

Target has dropped the price of the Olevia BD-110 Blu-ray player from $299 to $229, $70 off the normal retail. The retailing giant has also dropped the price of the Philips BD-P7200 $100, from $349 to $249. Have retailers finally realized that if you get customers BD players they will buy BD titles? Here’s a list of the new Blu-ray releases this week. Can some of these retails get any higher? Check it out: Iron Man ($39.99); Daredevil: Director’s Cut ($39.98); Forgetting Sarah Marshall ($39.98). You gotta be hardcore to pay that much for hi-def disc. Good news is, Amazon and most other online retailers are selling those higher priced BDs for about $10 less. Full Story
Warner Home Video announced three new Blu-ray releases. The hi-def releases include The Polar Express Presented in 3-D, Austin Powers Collection: Shagadelic Edition, Loaded with Extra Mojo (how is that for a title?), and Casablanca Ultimate Collector’s Edition. Warner Bros. recently opened its library to bring 85 titles to VOD. Full Story
NEC announced it has come up with a new Single-Chip LSI named EMMA 3PF that is 50% smaller than previous chips, therefore reducing part production costs and space requirements. That means new Blu-ray players could end up smaller and less expensive because of the new size and combined functions into one chip. Full Story
A sale at Amazon discounts Disney Blu-ray Discs at 40%. Regularly priced $34.99 Blu-ray discs are now $20.95. Regularly priced $29.99 discs are now $17.95. Some Disney titles worth mentioning are Pirates of the Caribbean (all three from Disney), Cars (Disney), Apocalypto (Touchstone), Enemy of the State (Touchstone), Flightplan (Touchstone/Disney), No Country for Old Men (Disney) and 66 more according the latest list from Amazon. Warner Home Video has announced it will be releasing A Christmas Story Ultimate Collector’s Edition on both DVD and Blu-ray Disc for the 2008 holidays. The 2003 classic Christmas film will be packaged in a collectible holiday cookie tin and sell for $49.99 retail. Full Story
Starting soon, kiosks will be set up in Blockbuster stores across Canada. The company first offered Blu-ray discs to customers in November of last year, but now they will promote the high definition format even more by allowing customers to actually “see” the goods. Full Story
