Dish Network adds 9 new hi-def channels, launches Fox Soccer Channel HD

Epix HD closer to distribution deals, including Cox and Dish

epix_logo_smVia Reuters Cox Communications may be close to reaching an agreement to carry movie channels Epix and Epix HD, but Cox is not the only TV provider who may get the new network. Dish Network celebrates 14 million subscribers

dish networkDish Network says they have reached a milestone, now providing satellite TV service to 14 million customers in the U.S. The company added over 150,000 subscribers in the present quarter, and says they lead the nation in international channels, offering 175 channels in 28 languages. Dish Network gives subscribers free preview of NFL RedZone

Following in the footsteps of Verizon’s FiOS TV, Dish Network will also offer a free preview of NFL RedZone this Sunday, Oct. 4. The preview will run from 1:00 p.m. until 4:15 p.m. ET, and can be found on channel 155 in both standard and high-definition. Full Story

Verizon’s FiOS to carry NFL RedZone

DISH boasts MSNBC HD nationwide

Dish Network got MSNBC HD today and says it is the first and only pay-TV provider to offer the channel in high-definition nationwide. Windstream offers DISH Remote Access

Dish Network adds FUEL TV to channel lineup

Dish Network has added FUEL TV to its lineup today, but unfortunately only in standard definition (480i). The network carries action sports related programming, including skateboarding, snowboarding, surfing, BMX, freestyle motocross and wakeboarding. You can get FUEL TV on Channel 155 with the Classic Gold 250 programming package. Not exactly HD news, but here’s hoping their 720p feed will soon be launched. Full Story

Dish DVRs go remote nationwide

Dish Network made its remote access DVR service available nationwide. The service is available free-of-charge to customers with a ViP Series DVR. You can search in “real time” through nine-days of programming, with filters set by genre, rating, sports etc.. You can also use with your Slingbox for remote viewing. Full Story

Dish Network reaches 140 HD channels

DISH has raised the bar by offering another 5 HD (High Definition) channels nationwide bringing its total HD offerings to 140. FX, SPEED, Fashion TV (FTV), Logo and MavTV were all added in HD yesterday, as well as an announcement to add MSNBC HD in June. The N network has also been added in a 24-hour slot (presumably in standard-def) on Channel 181. Full Story

DISH adds seven HD channels

Late last Friday Dish Network announced it added seven new HD channels to its lineup. The new channels, which are available nationwide to subscribers, come from MTV Networks and BET Networks. CMT HD, COMEDY CENTRAL HD, MTV HD, Nickelodeon HD, Spike TV HD, VH1 HD, were added to the Classic Bronze 100 HD and above packages. BET HD was added to the Classic Silver 200 HD and above packages. DISH adds to their HD channel lineup

Dish Network added HD channels for customers who subscribe to the Showtime Unlimited and PlatinumHD packages: Showtime Showcase HD, SHO2 HD, The Movie Channel HD and BET J are now part of their high-definition lineup. Dish Network drops Smithsonian HD, starts new promotion

Dish Network not carrying the Superbowl?

According to WJAC of Johnstown, PA, Dish Network will not carry their broadcast of the upcoming Superbowl in HD. Dish Network says they are ready to carry the station’s standard-definition broadcast of the game, but not the high-definition broadcast. Full Story
