Breaking News: Netflix to stream Epix movies

This just in via The Wall Street Journal — Epix has agreed to give Netflix online distribution rights. This means movies such as “Iron Man 2,” “The Expendables,” and “Star Trek” will be available next month as streaming content to your PC or TV. Full Story

Charter adds EPIX online

Charter customers who subscribe to the premium EPIX channel will now have access online at www.charter.net/epix. You just have to log-in with your Charter email address or account username and password to get access to all the titles EPIX offers on your PC. Recent titles now on the network include Star Trek, Shutter Island, and Precious. Classic titles such as Raiders of the Lost Ark and Godfather are also available. EPIX HD subscriptions are normally $9.99 per month, which includes both television and PC viewing. Full Story

Epix launching online HD viewing

Epix is launching widespread online viewing of content for Cox and Mediacom customers on EpixHD.com. The service provides Epix subscribers with a full lineup of movies via the website, including over 150 HD and SD movies per month. In July, the company plans on launching the service for Charter Communications subscribers. Full Story

Oliver Stone to produce drama for Epix

Epix has partnered with producer/writer/director Oliver Stone and writer Bruce Wagner to develop a new dramatic series titled “Still Holding.” The show will be based on Wagner’s novel, exploring the lives for three disparate characters in Los Angeles and “the violent consequences of love and betrayal.” Full Story

DirecTV fires back with 30 new HD channels

The high-def channel war continues as DirecTV fires back a whopper with the announcement of 30 new HD channels starting in May, along with some “fightin’ words” for their direct competitor. “DISH Network is very skilled at grossly inflating their HD numbers,” said DirecTV’s Derek Chang. He added, “you’d be hard pressed to find an actual list of comprehensive HD channels that match their recent claims.” Full Story

Cox adds new HD channels in Virginia

Cox has added some new HD channels in its Virginia markets today, including the launch of Epix HD and Vutopia across all markets. In addition to those two channels Cox launched two new HD channels in Roanoke and Hampton Roads and three new HD channels in Northern Virginia. Full Story

HBO Go launches for Verizon FiOS customers

Epix gets third distribution deal

Epix HD to launch on FiOS TV in October

Epix HD has signed an agreement with Verizon to run its channel on Verizon’s FiOS TV network, a distribution deal that could reach as many as 2.5 million households. The 15-month-old joint venture owned by Viacom (Paramount Pictures), Lions Gate Entertainment and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios will start service exclusively with Verizon on Oct. 1. Full Story
