Gears of WarIf an incredibly bored person with a time machine made a trip to see me in the summer of 2000, for the sole purpose of telling me about the amazing games and televisions and consoles that would all be out within the next ten years…well…I don’t know what I would’ve said.

If he had also told me that we would only be playing games for about a week until the next one came out, I would have called him a liar. I had a Nintendo64 then, and I still loved every game that I had bought for it. Nagano Olympics sucked from the second I saw in under the gift-wrapping at what would prove to be another disappointing Christmas at my uncle’s place. Full Story »

Buggy PS3 update, Sony recalls

ps3Sony confirmed yesterday that it recalled the latest firmware update for the . The 2.40 update was released on Tuesday, and reports of problems started appearing right away on websites.

The company said the bugs were only experienced by a limited amount of owners. In an email to InformationWeek, Sony said “We are working diligently to isolate the problem for those few consumers and to identify a solution before we put the firmware back up.”

PS3 upgrade rolls out

The upgrade enhances person-to-person gaming by adding the long awaited XrossMediaBar (XMB) which allows players to link to other each other and communicate. Walmart to offer Blu-ray discounts

, the world’s largest retail chain, announced a new Blu-ray promotion. The company said it will offer a $100 gift card when you purchase any of its Blu-ray players. The offer will start on Sunday, June 8th and extend to June 14th.

The store’s recent promotion which offered the $100 gift card with the purchase of a 40Gb must have been a success, as the store is now including all Blu-ray players in a similar offer. This includes Sony, Magnavox, Samsung and Panasonic. Full Story »

Sony to replace PS3 ‘Motorstorm’ bundle
