Batman: Arkham Asylum, what is described as a “haunting, action detective game,” is coming to Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Windows in 2009. Batman: Arkham Asylum puts you in the role of Batman as he battles the Joker and other Gotham villains. Sony confirmed yesterday that it recalled the latest firmware update for the PS3. The 2.40 update was released on Tuesday, and reports of problems started appearing right away on PS3 websites.
The company said the bugs were only experienced by a limited amount of PS3 owners. In an email to InformationWeek, Sony said “We are working diligently to isolate the problem for those few consumers and to identify a solution before we put the firmware back up.”
2.40 software update for Sony’s Playstation 3 is officially available. The upgrade enhances person-to-person gaming by adding the long awaited XrossMediaBar (XMB) which allows players to link to other each other and communicate. Walmart, the world’s largest retail chain, announced a new Blu-ray promotion. The company said it will offer a $100 gift card when you purchase any of its Blu-ray players. The offer will start on Sunday, June 8th and extend to June 14th.
The store’s recent promotion which offered the $100 gift card with the purchase of a 40Gb Playstation 3 must have been a success, as the store is now including all Blu-ray players in a similar offer. This includes Sony, Magnavox, Samsung and Panasonic. Full Story »

Sony will cease to offer the Playstation 3 80GB bundled with “Motorstorm.” Instead of “Motorstorm,” newer bundle releases will include “Metal Gear Solid 4” and a DualShock 3 controller. According to an article by Joystiq, Sony stated that retailers would not longer receive any new inventory of the 80GB Motorstorm bundle. Full Story »
