Sony has announced three new BRAVIA 3D TVs in 60, 55 and 46-inch models. The NX810 series feature DynamicEdge LED backlighting, MotionflowPRO 240Hz frame rate, built-in Wi-Fi, 1920×1080 resolution, and LightSensor technology for automatically adjusting backlight. Full Story
According to The Associated Press Sony is now developing 3D television technology that does not require wearing 3D glasses. The news comes just days after former high-def disc rival Toshiba announced it was working on no-glasses 3D technology. Full Story

Sony is taking $100 off its CX350V HD camcorder that records 1920 x 1080 high-definition video to 32GB of internal Flash memory. The camera also features an “Exmor R” CMOS sensor, wide-angle G Lens, 12X optical zoom, Direct Copy, built-in GPS receiver. Sony has introduced two Cyber-shot digital still cameras that will shoot in 3D, allowing you to get in on the 3D hype that one might think can only achieved by Hollywood studios. A new movie channel dubbed Sony Pictures Movies HD will possibly launch Oct. 1, tapping into Sony’s extensive library of films which includes blockbuster titles such as Angels & Demons and Spider-Man 3. This news comes via the Los Angeles Times which reports Sony Television plans to launch two new channels in the United States. The Sony movie channel may launch along with Fearnet, a joint venture between Sony, Lionsgate and Comcast Corp which already offers horror genre films on demand and online. Sony has already launched television channels abroad but has yet to do so in U.S. markets. Full Story
Sony’s new “Elevated Standard” (ES) line of AV receivers and Blu-ray player represent the company’s top-of-the-line 3D-ready video equipment – but will only be available to custom installers and select AV retailers. On a more user-friendly note, iPhone & iTouch users will be able to control the new models using a free mobile app – featuring zone control, a full GUI menu, and Sony’s Quick Click remote function.

Sony’s family-friendly virtual world called “Free Realms” reached 12 million registered users, Sony announced this week. The online multi-player environment was launched in April ‘09 by Sony Online Entertainment, taking just over two weeks to reach 1 million registered users. Full Story
This past week was full of hype about emerging 3D technology as ESPN launched its ESPN 3D network last Friday with the opening of the 2010 FIFA World Cup match between South Africa and Mexico. But, not everyone will be able to view the 25 planned matches in 3D. According to CEA less than 1-million households are actually capable of viewing the three-dimensional broadcasts. Not only do you need a 3D TV but you also need a service provider who will be broadcasting the matches – DirecTV and Comcast announced carriage early on, while AT&T announced they would carry ESPN 3D just a few days before the launch on Friday. Sony recently released firmware upgrades for several Blu-ray systems, enabling them to playback 3D-enabled Blu-ray Discs. At the same time, the company announced new 3D Blu-ray players and 3D Blu-ray Home Theater Systems. The 3D firmware updates for select Sony Blu-ray Disc and home theater systems were visible yesterday on Sony’s support site. Today, the company formally announced the free updates for select Blu-ray Disc players which include the Sony BDP-S470 and BDP-S570 models. The firmware updates include support for 3D and DLNA content, and improvements in router connectivity. Full Story
