New Panasonic HDTVs support DivX

by Jeff Chabot on February 26, 2009

Nine new Panasonic 1080p HDTVs supporting DivX will be available in Europe. The new plasma models, from the VIERA Z1, V10 and G15 series, will feature NeoPDP technology, improving picture and energy efficiency, as well as allowing thinner set dimensions.

DivX will allow consumers to plug their SD/SDHC memory cards directly into the VIERA sets. DivX content can also be streamed directly from a network with a DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) server which will enable you to watch videos from your PC on the VIERA HDTV.

The series will also include Viera Cast, allowing viewing of internet content from sites like YouTube, and built-in Freesat (Free-to-Air Satellite) — now why don’t we have something like that in the US?

DivX is a digital media company based in San Diego, CA. The company focuses on digital video technologies for television, PC and mobile devices.
