Sony to release new ES line Blu-ray player

by Jeff Chabot on July 23, 2009

At the same time Sony announced two 400-disc Blu-ray changers, the company also announced the BDP-S1000ES single disc ES player, which brings Sony’s Blu-ray Disc player line to 13 models. The high-end BD player adds to the ES line with built-in Wi-Fi for BD-Live access, 1080/60p, and 24p True Cinema. It is also compatible with Wi-Fi Protected Setup and Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA).

The Sony BDP-S1000ES also integrates Sony’s HD Reality Enhancer, Super Bit Mapping, Precision Drive HD technology, and Sony’s Precision Cinema HD Upscale technology. For audio the player supports most hi-def audio formats including 7.1 channel Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS -HD Master Audio, and DTS-HD High Resolution Audio.

The BDP-S1000ES will be available next month for an MSRP of approximately $700.
